BRICS Academy of Skills Development and Technology Innovation (Xiamen)

In line with President Xi Jinping’s pivotal initiative, “Establishing the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution,” and to fulfill the objectives of the BRICS Business Council Skills Development Working Group (BRICS Skills Group), the BRICS Academy of Skills Development and Technology Innovation (Xiamen) was established in December 2021.

This academy represents a collaborative endeavor among five prominent organizations:

• BRICS PartNIR Innovation Center
• Administrative Commission of Xiamen Torch Development Zone for High Technology Industries
• People’s Government of Jimei District, Xiamen City
• Xiamen Information Group Co., Ltd.
• Beijing ARC Xinxing Science and Technology Co., Ltd.

The Academy plays a crucial role in fostering skills development, promoting technological innovation, and driving industrial growth across BRICS nations, further solidifying their shared commitment to the New Industrial Revolution.

The BRICS Academy of Skills Development and Technology Innovation (Xiamen) aims to advance the strategic objectives of the BRICS Partnership on the New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR). Its primary goals include:

1. Skills Development:
   To equip individuals with advanced technical and professional skills necessary for participation in industries aligned with the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This includes fostering a workforce capable of handling emerging technologies such as AI, robotics, blockchain, and sustainable energy solutions.
2. Technological Innovation:
   To serve as a hub for technological research and innovation that addresses the shared industrial and technological challenges faced by BRICS nations. This involves the development of cutting-edge technologies and solutions to enhance global competitiveness.
3. Collaboration and Networking:
   To promote cross-border cooperation and knowledge exchange among BRICS nations by building strong networks of governments, businesses, academic institutions, and research centers.
4. Economic Empowerment:
   To contribute to economic growth by developing talent and innovations that support industrialization, entrepreneurship, and job creation across BRICS member states.
5. Sustainability and Inclusivity:
   To integrate sustainable practices into its initiatives and ensure inclusive access to education and resources, especially for underrepresented groups, promoting equitable development.
6. Policy and Best Practices Sharing:
   To align and harmonize policies that foster industrial development and technology innovation, creating frameworks for best practices to be implemented across member states.

The Academy acts as a bridge connecting the industrial, academic, and research sectors within BRICS, driving transformative growth and reinforcing the bloc’s role in global economic development.
