Taiwan’s Creativity and Innovation on Full Display as 2019
TIE Closes to Much Fanfare
The three-day 2019 Taiwan Innotech Expo (TIE) concluded this September 28th with over 45,000 international buyers and visitors, witnessing countless inventors and their inventions from 30 different countries. A broad display of industry products attracted buyers from Mainland China, Japan, Korea, USA, Thailand, Hong Kong, Bulgaria, Canada, Egypt, Singapore, Vietnam, Poland, Russia and others, all of whom came not just for these inventions, but also for purchases and potential cooperation deals. In addition to the expo, the prestigious Platinum Awards were also presented on the last day, and Taiwan’s own National Central University walked away as the biggest winner, with two Platinum Awards, and numerous gold, silver and bronze awards.
Many patented products and technology were on display in the various pavilions, including Taiwan’s latest self-driving car and its related products at the Future Technology Pavilion, in hopes of getting the rest of the world to see the autonomous vehicle capabilities in Taiwan. In addition, environmentally friendly batteries were a hit at the Sustainability Pavilion. The Innovative Invention Pavilion attracted interest from foreign and domestic inventors alike, and the 59 latest technological advances brings Chinese Taipei-Taiwan’s creativity onto the grand stage and expects to generate over NT$100 million in trade and production value.
The Excellent Inventions Pavilion had 41 of the best 2017 inventions on display, covering various industries and putting the creative minds in front of the world. Also, Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA) and Indonesian Invention and Innovation Promotion Association (INNOPA) were heavy participants in this year’s competition. Both associations stated that TIE is one of the top innovation shows in Asia, and continues to grow in size, providing the optimal platform for them to present their inventions, as well as an opportunity they simply cannot pass up.
Over 650 products entered this year’s competition, and a total of 15 Platinum Awards, 111 Gold Awards, 112 Silver Awards, and 154 Bronze Awards were present. The National Central University grabbed 2 of the 15 Platinum Awards, and along with its 8 other medals, became the biggest innovator of this year’s TIE. TAITRA has stated they will continue to promote these award winning products, and will make TIE one of the top trading and retail platforms for inventions.
