National Award for Colombian Inventors 2025

The National Award for Colombian Inventors 2025 was held on September 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Planetarium of Bogotá, uniting prominent stakeholders of Colombia’s innovation and intellectual property ecosystem.

This distinguished event was organized with the invaluable support of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA), represented respectively by Marco Alemán and Alireza Rastegar. The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce was represented by Superintendent Cielo Elainne Rusinque and the Delegate for Industrial Property, Pilar Goyeneche Carvajal, reaffirming the national commitment to foster and promote innovation in Colombia.

The ceremony featured the recognition of outstanding achievements across six major categories:

• Youth Category

In addition, two special recognitions were granted: Best Regional Invention and Best Commercial Management.

All winners received recognition from WIPO, while IFIA presented three distinguished medals:

• IFIA Best Woman Inventor Medal
  Awarded to Laura Cadavid, Ana Navarro, Luz Flórez, and Jennifer Romo for their outstanding innovation “Method for the Production of a Biofilm without Chemical Additives from the Use of Cabbage, Cauliflower, Carrot, and Beet Waste.”
• IFIA Best Individual Inventor Medal
  Awarded to Yobany Cuaji Trujillo for his outstanding innovation “Cuaji” System for Drinking Water Treatment, Integrating Coagulation, Flocculation, Sedimentation, Filtration, and Disinfection Stages.

The event was enriched by a captivating performance from the National Batuta Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing musical and human development training to children and youth from vulnerable communities bringing an inspiring cultural dimension to the ceremony.
