IFIA Medinnovation Department
The IFIA MedInnovation Department Office was established in October 17,2026 with the mission of supporting inventors and enabling them to connect with other member countries to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and positive impact across scientific, technological, and business fields.
The Medical and Pharmaceutical Innovations Section of IFIA is established to strengthen IFIA’s global mission in promoting scientific and technological advancement in health-related fields. This section focuses on medical technologies, pharmaceutical innovations, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, and emerging health solutions.
Our mission is to create a global platform for inventors, researchers, innovators, startups, and industry leaders who strive to improve human health through creative and impactful inventions.

Under the leadership of Dr. Mahmoud A. Hafez, the department is dedicated to advancing medical and pharmaceutical innovations, empowering inventors, researchers, and health-tech entrepreneurs to develop and promote breakthrough inventions that improve healthcare and contribute to global scientific progress.
IFIA MedInnovation Department for Advancing Medical and Pharmaceutical Innovation and Development
Definition

This Department is an official working body within IFIA. It consists of IFIA members who declare their participation in activities related to medical and pharmaceutical innovations.

The Department operates as an integral part of IFIA, under the direct authority of the President, and the oversight of the Executive Committee (ExCo).

The Department will therefore:
a) implement activities decided by the General Assembly (GA) or the ExCo.
b) act under the general or specific instructions of the President.
c) suggest new medical and pharmaceutical innovation–related activities to the President.
d) report directly to the President.
Scope

The geographic scope of the Department includes all IFIA member countries, ensuring global collaboration in medical and pharmaceutical innovation.
Functions and Activities
-
The main responsibilities and activities of the Department are to:
a) develop and strengthen relations between IFIA member associations active in medical and pharmaceutical fields.
b) establish and maintain useful and regular contacts with patent offices related to medical and pharmaceutical inventions.
c) build and maintain relations with scientific, technological, medical, pharmaceutical, regulatory, and innovation authorities worldwide.
d) promote research, development, and commercialization of medical and pharmaceutical innovations.
e) support inventors, researchers, and health-tech entrepreneurs through programs, events, and international collaboration.
Finances

No additional fees will be required from its members.

The expenses of the Department will be covered jointly by the IFIA Budget and, when applicable, by contributions from Department members or relevant projects.
Policy

The Department must remain a neutral and impartial body, consistent with IFIA’s principles. This means the Department will:
a) not advance the interests of any specific country or group of countries,
b) implement the policies decided by the IFIA GA or ExCo,
c) promote equal opportunities for all inventors and participants in medical and pharmaceutical innovation.
Leadership

The Director of the Department, currently Dr. Mahmoud A. Hafez, leads, organizes, and represents the Department and its activities. Additional coordinators or committees may be appointed to assist the Director in fulfilling the objectives and programs of the Department.
