Kuwait Science Club Held the 13th International Invention Fair of the Middle East
The 13th IIFME –International Invention Fair of the Middle East – was organized from the 12th to 15th of February 2023 by Kuwait Science Club under the Patronage of His Highness, the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and in collaboration the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), UNESCO, and the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva.
This unique convention in the Middle East was received with great importance locally, regionally, and internationally. It highlighted the inventions, innovations, and creativity of youths and Universities. The convention also promoted Kuwait’s modernity and its role in encouraging and supporting the inventors and participants in this public service.
In this event, IFIA President, Alireza Rastegar, attended the opening and closing ceremonies, where the minister represented the Amir in the opening and closing ceremony. It is also worth mentioning that several countries, ministers, establishments, authorities, and companies were also present at the event.
The 13th IIFME brought 34 countries together, including the United Kingdom, USA, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Thailand, Egypt, Qatar, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, etc. In this event, 192 inventions were showcased during the exhibition, and many investors and private sector visitors visited the event.
The Kuwait Science Club awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals to the inventors selected by the juries, and IFIA, UNESCO, WIPO, and GCCPO awards were given to the best inventions in specific categories.
During this exhibition, a seminar called Beyond Invention – Road to Commercialization was organized by the Kuwait Science Club in the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce & Industry on February 15th. The main speakers of this seminar were Dr. Sergey Medvedev, the head of the legal department at Gorodissky & Partners, Mr. Evgeniy Sesitsky, the Legal Officer of the World Intellectual Property Organization, Mr. Neda Aldaihani, General Manager of Sabah Alahmed giftedness and creativity, Mr. David Farouki, the president of the Jury of Geneva Invention Fair, and Mr. Alireza Rastegar, the President of the International Federation of Inventors’ Association.
In this seminar, the president of IFIA talked about the challenges and obstacles inventors faced during their journey and mentioned some factors that could help each of you move forward on your road to commercialization, such as Global Accelerator, local Accelerator, and Innovation Design studio.
Lastly, IFIA thanks the International Invention Fair of the Middle East and Kuwait Science Club for their outstanding management and event. The federation hopes this invention fair will be one of the most significant events in the Middle East and the world.
