IFIA–ABIPIR LATAM Office Participation in the Brazil–China Symposium on Eco-Civilization
The International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA) highlights the active participation of its Latin America Office represented by the Brazil International Innovative Inventors, Scientists and Entrepreneurs Association (ABIPIR) in the Brazil–China Symposium on Eco-Civilization, held in São Paulo.
The event gathered high-ranking Chinese government officials, representatives of major institutions, experts from various sectors, and delegates from the São Paulo City Administration to strengthen bilateral cooperation in sustainable development and innovation. The symposium was part of the programming of ECO 30 (Climate Conference) held in Belém, Brazil, with this session being an additional event hosted in São Paulo.
Eco-Civilization: A Vision Inspired by President Xi Jinping
A central topic of the symposium was the concept of Eco-Civilization, a state policy and philosophical framework formulated under the leadership of President Xi Jinping. This framework is based on two key principles:
- Scientific, technological, and innovation-driven development is essential for national progress and for addressing global challenges;
- Such development must occur without compromising the health, balance, and integrity of the natural environment.
This philosophy asserts that economic modernization and environmental preservation are not contradictory but mutually reinforcing objectives. It emphasizes the responsibility of nations to ensure that scientific and technological advancements improve human well-being while safeguarding ecosystems for present and future generations.

Alignment of IFIA and ABIPIR With Eco-Civilization Principles
Under the leadership of IFIA President Alireza Rastegar, the federation remains fully committed to promoting inventions and technological solutions that generate social, economic, and environmental benefits.
The IFIA–ABIPIR LATAM Office has been a strong advocate for responsible innovation, ensuring that scientific progress is aligned with sustainability and global well-being.
For more than a decade, ABIPIR has designed its programs to encourage inventors, researchers, and entrepreneurs to consider not only technological aspects but also the positive environmental and social impacts of their innovations. Two major long-standing initiatives exemplify this commitment:
1. InnovaCities – International Fair of Smart, Human, Happy, and Resilient Cities
ABIPIR has successfully organized 14 editions of InnovaCities, a global event showcasing innovations aimed at building sustainable and resilient urban environments.
The fair celebrates solutions that enhance human well-being while protecting natural resources.
In fact, environmental impact is one of the most important evaluation criteria, often outweighing technological novelty alone.
2. BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovations Competition – First Latin American Edition (2025)
In 2025, ABIPIR together with the BRICS Academy under the leadership of its President, Dr. Liu Zhenying will host the first-ever Latin American edition of this highly regarded competition.
The initiative focuses on inclusive technological development, capacity-building, and green innovation as essential drivers of sustainable progress across BRICS and BRICS+ nations.
All project categories include planetary protection and environmental contribution as core evaluation criteria, reflecting complete alignment with Eco-Civilization values.
Unique Participation of ABIPIR at the Symposium
ABIPIR was the only Brazilian non-profit organization invited to participate in the symposium an acknowledgment of its international relevance and leadership in promoting sustainable technological development.
ABIPIR President Marcelo Vivacqua delivered a keynote presentation emphasizing:
- The strong support provided by IFIA to ABIPIR’s programs in Latin America;
- The importance of IFIA–BRICS Academy collaborations in fostering green and socially impactful innovation;
- The alignment of InnovaCities and the BRICS Skills Development Competition with the Eco-Civilization philosophy;
- The necessity of integrating environmental protection criteria into global innovation ecosystems.
President Vivacqua also gave an exclusive interview to China News, where he elaborated on ABIPIR’s commitment to advancing sustainable innovation practices in Latin America. “Interview Link”
