Evaluation and Judging
SVIIF’s evaluation is conducted by a multi-disciplinary international jury of professors, technologists, product leaders, IP strategists, and industry practitioners. The process is designed to be rigorous, fair, and consistent:
- Multi-criteria rubric: novelty/originality, technical merit, feasibility/engineering quality, utility and user benefit, market/readiness & IP posture, and potential social or environmental impact.
- Panel method: each project is reviewed by multiple judges; discussions resolve variance and refine consensus.
- Conflict-of-interest policy: jurors recuse whenever appropriate; assignments are diversified to ensure impartiality.
- Calibration: the jury conducts calibration sessions before and during judging to align standards across categories and disciplines.
- On-site & online parity: in-person entries are evaluated at booths; remote entries are assessed via submitted posters, videos, and materials, using the same rubric and thresholds.
- Documentation: scoring notes are recorded to preserve an auditable trail of decisions.
The judging process focused on novelty, utility, market potential, and impact, ensuring that only the most outstanding innovations were recognized with medals and special awards.
