WIPO & IFIA International Symposium 1984
WIPO IFIA international symposium 1984 on the situation of inventors was jointly organized by World Intellectual Property Organization and International Federation of Inventors Association from May 21 to 24, 1984 in WIPO headquarters in Geneva. There were 78 participants broadly categorized as “Authorities and National Institutions”, “Intergovernmental organizations”, “International Non-Governmental Organizations”, “officers” and “organizers” from 36 countries.

The principal focus of the conference was to raise awareness among inventors about their key role in contemporary society and the legitimate need for a better protection of their rights and continuous support. These topics were hotly debated and presented by the keynote spokespeople.
