About ASI
The Association of Slovenian Inventors ASI (“Active Slovene Inventors”) was founded in 2005 by Marijan Stele and was at that time a part of economic interest group GIZ R TIM. In 2008 expert council of inventors decided to establish a new legal entity, an institute Inventors’ Centre ASI. The tasks of the ASI are to connect Slovenian inventors, to help them on all levels of innovation development and to promote inventors and their inventions. The ASI cooperates with all institutions of national supportive environment for innovation (universities, public research institutes, business incubators, Public Agency SPIRIT Slovenia, Slovenian Research Agency, Ministry of Economic Development and Technology), however, most of members of ASI are independent inventors.According to Åstebro and Thompson (2007) the independent inventors are the inventors that realize their inventions outside the confines of established organizations. A lot of them found their own company, but some of them stay for whole life only “individual inventors”, sometimes called also “garage” or “lone” inventors. The individuals, whose inventive enterprises became very successful, are honorary members of the ASI. Honorary members like Drago Lemut (Le-tehnika), Ivo Boscarol (Pipistrel), brothers Jakopin (Seaway), Peter Florjančič (Slovenian inventor with more than 400 patents), Sandi Češko (Studio Moderna), Jože Bider (Bider Agricultural Machines), Peter Slatnar (Slatnar Carbon), Jožef Lorbek (Anthron) and many others are the best advisors and supporters for inventors beginners, as well as they are an inspiration to them since they are clear evidence that even today, in the era of large multinational companies, an ingenious individual can succeed even without significant economic capital.
Activities
- To create partnerships with European and other international organizations to support Turkish inventors abroad and to help the other inventors in Slovenia.
- To organize invention exhibitions in Slovenia and to participate in European and other regional international exhibitions.
- To support a special inventions and innovations events in Slovenia.
- To animate conferences, seminars, and workshops about invention, innovation, and all topics relative to their initiation or concretization.
