IFIA AND ABIPIR REINFORCE INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT ACROSS BRICS NATIONS
Strengthening Global Standards for Technological Progress and Socioeconomic Advancement
In alignment with their shared mission to foster innovation, creativity, science, and technology as catalysts for building a better world, the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA) and the Brazilian International Association of Inventors, Scientists and Innovative Entrepreneurs (ABIPIR) have once again united in support of the BRICS Standardization Committee’s initiatives. As IFIA President Alireza Rastegar has often emphasized, promoting inventive spirit is fundamental to sustainable development a vision both institutions are strongly committed to realizing.

Advancing the BRICS Standardization Agenda
The BRICS Standardization Forums aim to harmonize industrial and educational standards among member countries to accelerate sustainable socioeconomic development. Mr. Marcelo Vivacqua, Founder and President of ABIPIR and Brazilian representative of the BRICS Academy, actively participated in these forums, which addressed critical topics such as the standardization of industrial technical norms, vocational education curricula, and regulations governing technological competitions. Areas of focus included additive manufacturing and Building Information Modeling (BIM), among others.
The forums brought together distinguished participants from various countries, including Mr. Liu Zenying, President of the BRICS Academy. Notably, contributions were made by Brazilian additive manufacturing expert Professor Américo Scotti and specialist Ms. Cristiane Evelise Ribeiro da Silva, who shared her insights via a recorded message. Representatives from China, India, Russia, and Indonesia also enriched the discussions with their perspectives and expertise.
Economic, Educational, and Technological Impacts
The BRICS Standardization Program represents a pivotal move toward enhanced cooperation among member states. By establishing unified industrial standards, the initiative ensures product interoperability, elevates quality benchmarks, and eliminates unnecessary trade barriers. These efforts are expected to reduce production costs, enhance industrial efficiency, and stimulate innovation ultimately strengthening economic growth and elevating global competitiveness.
An equally important component of the program is the standardization of technical education. By aligning vocational curricula, BRICS countries can ensure that their workforce is adequately equipped to meet the demands of evolving industries. This approach minimizes skills gaps, enhances employability, and promotes labor mobility, while also encouraging the exchange of knowledge and inclusion in high-tech sectors. With standardized, internationally recognized qualifications, the program nurtures a robust foundation for human capital development and reduces inequality through equitable access to quality education.
Inspiring Innovation Through Competition
To further reinforce innovation, the program includes the organization of technological competitions aimed at young engineers and technical professionals. These events not only recognize and reward talent but also serve as dynamic platforms to foster creativity and accelerate technological breakthroughs. By promoting healthy competition and international collaboration, the initiative cultivates a culture of continuous improvement and excellence an essential driver of industrial modernization.
Empowering the Next Generation
The broader social impact of the BRICS Standardization Program is profound. It inspires youth to pursue careers in science and engineering, strengthens national pride in technical competencies, and prepares a new generation of innovators capable of contributing to sustainable development across member nations. Collectively, these efforts aim to enhance economic resilience, encourage social empowerment, and cement the technological leadership of BRICS countries on the global stage.
