A Strategic Milestone Expanding IFIA's Global Innovation Ecosystem Through Social Innovation, Community Development, and Inclusive Entrepreneurship
The International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA) is pleased to announce that the 52nd Executive Committee Meeting has officially approved the establishment of the IFIA Social Innovation & Community Development Department, marking an important milestone in the Federation’s strategic expansion of its global innovation ecosystem.
The newly approved department has been created to strengthen IFIA’s mission of advancing invention, innovation, entrepreneurship, and commercialization while generating measurable social and economic impact through education, inclusion, employment development, startup support, and community-driven innovation initiatives.
Designed as a global platform for social innovation, the department will foster collaboration among inventors, entrepreneurs, governments, universities, innovation organizations, and community partners. It will also expand access to innovation opportunities for underserved communities while maintaining IFIA’s primary focus on invention, intellectual property, commercialization, and international cooperation

Strategic Framework
The department is structured around five strategic pillars that provide an integrated pathway from community innovation to international collaboration:
- Social Innovation
- Inventor Development
- Community & Economic Development
- Innovation Access Programs
- Events & Global Networking
Through these pillars, the department will encourage innovative solutions addressing social challenges, strengthen inventor capacity, promote startup readiness and commercialization, support local innovation ecosystems, and create new opportunities for international cooperation.
A central objective of the department is expanding access to innovation by supporting persons with disabilities, newcomers, emerging innovators, inclusive entrepreneurship initiatives, and historically underrepresented communities, ensuring broader participation in IFIA’s worldwide innovation network while preserving the Federation’s core focus on invention, innovation, commercialization, and intellectual property development
Official Public Platform
The department’s official public platform operates through Inclusive Innovators, a Canadian initiative dedicated to advancing inclusive innovation, entrepreneurship, and community development by connecting innovators with educational resources, collaborative programs, and international opportunities.

By fostering collaboration across sectors and empowering innovators from diverse backgrounds, the department will contribute to building stronger communities, sustainable economies, and greater international cooperation through innovation.
