iCAN 2025: Celebrating a Decade of Innovation in Canada
10th International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada, iCAN 2025 - Show Report
Toronto, Canada – August 30, 2025 – The 10th Anniversary Edition of the International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada (iCAN 2025) successfully concluded with remarkable participation, reinforcing its reputation as one of the world’s premier innovation events. Organized by the Toronto International Society of Innovation & Advanced Skills (TISIAS) and supported by the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA), and The Inventors’ Circle, this milestone edition was held virtually for the sixth consecutive year.
Global Participation and Growth
iCAN 2025 attracted 802 applications from 62 countries and regions, marking steady global engagement since its inception in 2016. Out of these, 686 entries qualified for the Finals, and 373 competed through video presentations. Over the past decade, iCAN has welcomed innovators from 98 countries across all continents, cementing its position as a true international stage for invention and creativity.
The statistical report on page 4 highlights a consistent growth trend, with participation increasing from 323 entries in 2016 to 802 in 2025. This year, Peru led the participation chart with 29%, followed by Thailand (9%), Malaysia (7%), Hong Kong (6%), and several other countries contributing to a vibrant mix of global ideas.
Competition Process and Awards
The competition unfolded in two stages:
- Preliminaries (January 15 – July 15, 2025): Applications were reviewed for eligibility and innovation value.
- Finals (August 30, 2025): Qualified participants presented their innovations via video submissions for jury evaluation.

The Finals featured prestigious recognitions, including the Grand Prize, Semi-Grand Prize, Best Invention Awards, and Special Awards from Canadian and international delegations.
Award packages were shipped worldwide in September, and winners were invited to share photos with their awards for the creation of an iCAN 2025 Tribute Video and Group Photo Collage scheduled for release in December 2025.
