The 27th Thailand Inventors’ Day 2026, organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) and supported by the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA), was successfully held from January 5–9, 2026 at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC), Bangna, Bangkok, Thailand. Under the theme “Unlock Thailand – Power of Invention and Innovation” the event combined national celebration with international collaboration, showcasing inventions, research, and technological solutions across multiple sectors.

A highlight of the event was the Thailand New Gen Inventors Award (I–New Gen Award 2026) and I–New Gen Junior Award 2026, providing young innovators from primary, secondary, vocational, and university levels with a platform to present their projects.

These competitions offered mentorship, industry exposure, and networking opportunities, inspiring students to engage with both national and international experts. Projects were recognized for contributions in AI, robotics, sustainability, medical technology, and smart devices, demonstrating Thailand’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of inventors.

The IPITEx Award Ceremony, held on January 9, 2026, recognized outstanding contributions from both Thai and international inventors. Dr. Wiparat De-ong and Mr. Alireza Rastegar, President of IFIA, presided over the ceremony. Mr. Rastegar delivered a keynote speech, congratulating inventors and emphasizing IPITEx as a major international innovation platform that fosters cooperation and knowledge exchange.

Awards presented included NRCT Special Awards, IFIA Medals, International Delegations Special Awards, and Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals across multiple categories.

IFIA Best Invention Award winners included:

• Anuj Chandalia (India) for the invention “MANENTIA-Ct Lung AI”
• Prof. Dr. Arsanchai Sukkuea, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pensiri Akkajit, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wattanapong Kurdthongmee, Thanaphat Chainarong, Danich Khawngam, Phichaipusit Thirakun (Thailand) for the invention “Life Buoy Launching Device for Drowning Rescue”

In total, inventors from 22 countries were recognized for their contributions, demonstrating the global reach and excellence of IPITEx 2026.

The 26th Thailand Inventors’ Day, organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, was successfully held from February 2 to 6, 2025, at BITEC Bangna, Bangkok. The event, showcased groundbreaking inventions and fostered international collaboration, attracting over 25,000 visitors and featuring more than 2,000 local Thai inventions alongside 600 international innovations from across the globe.

The competition not only provided young inventors with exposure to industry professionals and international innovators but also strengthened collaborations between educational institutions, research organizations, and private sectors. The winners were recognized for their contributions to fields such as AI and robotics, sustainability, medical technology, and smart solutions, reinforcing Thailand’s commitment to fostering the next generation of inventors.

On February 3, 2025, the Bangkok International Intellectual Property, Invention, and Technology Exposition (IPITEx 2025) welcomed international delegations to enhance global cooperation in scientific research and technological advancements.

The event served as a prestigious platform for cross-border collaborations, strengthening ties between Thai and international innovators.

Dr. Wiparat De-ong emphasized NRCT’s dedication to fostering international cooperation, facilitating an exchange of knowledge, and ensuring sustainable partnerships between inventors from various regions. Mr. Alireza Rastegar, President of IFIA, commended NRCT for its outstanding organization and highlighted IPITEx as a key global event for inventors and researchers worldwide.

The event culminated on February 6, 2025, with the IPITEx 2025 Award Ceremony, where Dr. Wiparat De-ong presided over the proceedings alongside esteemed representatives from NRCT and distinguished international delegates. Inventors from diverse backgrounds were recognized for their contributions, with winners receiving NRCT Special Awards, IFIA Awards, and Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals.

Among the notable winners of the IFIA Award were:

• Kanogwun Thongchote, Panda Chainiramol, Naphat Sukheebot, Bonbua Khunwattana from Srinakharinwirot University, Thailand, for their invention “My Lung AR: An Innovative 3D Augmented Reality Application for Learning Respiratory Anatomy.”

• FIRE UNIVERSITY, Poland, for their innovative project “Development of an Integrated System for Collecting and Processing Rescue Knowledge for Fire Protection and Civil Safety.”

In total, 30 NRCT Special Awards and medal prizes were presented, recognizing the outstanding contributions of inventors from 22 countries, including Canada, China, Taiwan, Croatia, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam.

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, graciously presided over the official opening ceremony of the Thailand Inventors’ Day 2024 on February 2nd, 2024 at BITEC Bangna, Bangkok, and bestowed the National Research Awards to recipients during the ceremony. The event is held to commemorate historical events and the royal patronage of Thai inventions. His Majesty also granted the ” Chaipattana Low-Speed Surface Aerator” invention patent, a device for adding nutrients to slow-moving water surfaces, in honor of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, the Father of Thai Inventions, along with showcasing exhibitions of works in research and innovation in various fields such as agriculture, medicine, quality of life, and elderly society. Additionally, there were exhibitions from youth inventors’ competitions; secondary school, vocational schools, and higher education, with over 600 inventions for the Thailand New Gen Inventors Award 2024.

In the afternoon of the same day, Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, delivered the keynote speech on “Research and Innovation as the Foundation for Sustainable Development Country” during the opening ceremony of Thailand Inventors’ Day 2024. Additionally, Dr. Wiparat De-ong, Executive Director of the National Research Council of Thailand, delivered a welcoming speech, accompanied by a congratulatory speech from Mr. Alireza Rastegar, President of the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA).  Moreover, Mr. Permsuk Sutchaphiwat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, along with ministry executives and network organization executives, graced the ceremony with their presence.

This reflects a dedicated effort to tie Thai and international inventors, highlighting that such success would not be possible without collaboration from various countries, leading to cultural exchange and shared perspectives, enhancing friendly relations, and future cooperation between nations.

Additionally, Mr. Alireza Rastegar, President of the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA), commended and thanked NRCT for the fabulous event and highlighted that IPITEx serves as a prestigious platform for various countries’ annual plans. The collaboration in this event will further strengthen international relations, and raise ongoing knowledge exchange in the future.

On February 6th, the award ceremony for the 2024 Bangkok International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation, and Technology Exposition (IPITEx 2024) was organized. Dr. Wiparat De-ong, the Executive Director of NRCT, presided over the ceremony, with esteemed guests and executives from the NRCT also in attendance. International inventors and researchers enthusiastically participated in the award ceremony held at the main stage, Event Hall 101, BITEC Bangna, Bangkok.

Dr. Wiparat De-ong, the Executive Director of NRCT, stated that the NRCT is committed to continuously promoting the participation of international and Thai inventors and researchers in presenting their inventions and innovations at the Bangkok International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation, and Technology Exposition (IPITEx) held annually as part of Thailand Inventors’ Day. The goal is to inspire inventors and researchers both domestically and internationally, leading to the development of innovative inventions and serving as a motivation for young inventors.

This effort also aims to facilitate knowledge and experience exchange among international inventors. The success of this year’s event in terms of participation and the quality of exhibited inventions reflects the fruitful collaboration between international and Thai inventors.

The Grand Prize winners for this year’s event include:

“Mobile High-capacity Oxygen Generator for Positive Pressure Ventilator” by the King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), Thailand”

“Increase Oil Production with Electric Desalter’s Reliability Improvement using U-Channel Electrode Clamp in DS7 West Qurna 1 Field (Iraq)” by PT Pertamina (Persero), Indonesian Invention and Innovation Promotion Association (INNOPA), Indonesia”

Additionally, there were four recipients of The Outstanding International Invention & Innovation Award, including inventions and innovations from Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA), Chulalongkorn University, The First Institute of Researchers and Inventors in I.R.IRAN (FIRI), and Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT).

Moreover, the ASEAN Excellence Invention and Innovation Award and the International Young Inventor Award were presented to inventors from the Malaysian Invention & Design Society (MINDS) from Malaysia.

The NRCT also presented 25 NRCT Special Awards and Medal Prizes (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), showcasing a diverse range of works from 25 countries represented by 30 organizations including Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Croatia, Egypt, Hong Kong-China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Laos, Macao-China, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sudan, United Kingdom, and Vietnam, and 38 organizations from Thailand. This collaboration was instrumental in the success of this event and aims to foster new international cooperation to expand the network and diversity of future exhibitions.

It is an excellent opportunity for all Thai and international researchers, inventors, innovators also visitors to discuss and share ideas and experiences in the global structure during the five-day event.

There are many activities during the event such as the Exhibition of the National Research Award, the Exhibition and competition of national inventions from secondary schools, vocational education, Universities, the public and private sectors, a Conference and workshop on invention development and Bangkok International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation and Technology Exposition (IPITEx).

The 24^th Thailand Inventors’ Day under the concept of “Driving Thai economy and society through inventions and innovations” was completed successfully with more than 20,000 visitors, 1,000 inventions and innovations from both local Thai inventors and 470 inventions from international partners from 29 organizations and 24 countries including Botswana, Canada, China, Croatia, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sudan, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and Vietnam.

In Thailand Inventors’ Day, an international pavilion is set up for exhibiting the potential and interesting invention and innovation of international inventors/innovators. This exhibition is known as Bangkok International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation and Technology Exposition (IPITEx) which will be held in Thailand Inventors’ Day during 5th – 9th January 2026 of every year, to create the collaboration between Thai and international inventors/organizations.

The National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) was inaugurated by the National Research Council Act B.E.2502 (1959) and was designated by the Cabinet as the national body responsible for the implementation of research related matters. The NRCT is also assigned to give comments to the Prime Minister when requested.
The administrative body of the NRCT is consisted of three parts; the first one is the National Research Council chaired by Prime Minister, with Deputy Prime Ministers as Vice Chairmen, and Ministers are Deputy Ministers as Advisors; the second one is the National Research Council Executive Board; and the last body is the Office of the National Research Council of Thailand headed by Secretary-General.

One of the main function of NRCT is to formulate national research policy and strategy, and to set the direction in which the national research main plan is driven. The National Research Policy and Strategy covering five years period has formulated since 1977 as a research implementation guideline for research agencies and a framework for the analysis of research proposals submitted by government agencies for annual budget allocation. It also provides a policy basis that is corresponding with the National Economic and Social Development Plan.
The Eight National Research Policy and Strategy (2012-2016) has an aim to produce and utilize high quality researches for a balanced and sustainable national development for Thailand. Priority of budget allocation will be given to research projects that comply with the 13 target research grouping : Application of Sufficiency Economy; State Security and Good Governance; Education Reform and Knowledge Creation; Water-resource Management; Global Warming and Alternative Energy; Agricultural Sustainability; Health Promotion, Prevention and Rehabilitation; Environmental Management  and Development; Cutting-edge Technology for Industry; Tourism Management; Elderly Society; Logistics; and Research System and Reform.

NRCT is the main organization that guides the country’s development through research results and knowledge as well as developing the country’s research leadership.

• Develop research infrastructure Research personnel and research standards development National Research Information Database And research networks at different levels to support public, private, and community / local research. As well as promoting the country’s research leadership.
